The idea of this event was created by Baron Pierre de Coubertin who went around the world to ask for supporters. (1) Also, the first modern Olympics were held in Athens,Greece. The Olympics were held in Greece because of donations by Greek businessmen like George Averoff, who had pay for the reconstruction of Athens' Panathenean Stadium.(1) Another example, the sports that were in the first modern Olympic were artistic gymnastics, athletics, cycling road, cycling track, fencing, shooting, swimming, tennis, weight lifting, and wrestling Greco-roman. Though athletes came from 14 nations, most came from France, Germany, Great Britain, and Greece. (2)
